This is an absolutely unique piece of Siberian woolly mammoth bark (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and rock-solid, despite some tiny, non-penetrating fissures. The natural structure of the bark on this piece is simply stunning. It took hours of hand-labour to grind and polish this piece - those who understand, will appreciate this. This piece is a perfect addition to any bespoke fossils collection. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions. The natural colour of the bark is beige.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This beige mammoth bark is natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or resin-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilization processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
