Red-brown mammoth bark
Red-brown mammoth bark
This is a premium-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth bark (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite some small, non-penetrating fissures. Tapered width with usable reserves on both ends: One cross-cut section is slightly wider than the other. Consistent thickness. The natural colour of the bark is medium reddish-brown with darker brown and greyish streaks
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This brown-red mammoth bark is completely natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or resin-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilisation processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
