This is a top-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite a small, non-penetrating crack. Tapered width and thickness with reserves on both ends: One cross-cut section is thicker and narrower than the other. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions. The piece displays its original, natural ivory tone. The colour of the outer layer of bark is brown-white.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This brown-white mammoth ivory piece is natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or epoxy-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilization processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
