This is a top-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite one some small, non-penetrating crack on the topside. Tapered width and thickness with reserves on both ends: One cross-cut section is thinner and wider than the other. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions. The piece displays its original, natural ivory tone. The colour of the outer layer of bark is brown.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene Age: Over 10,000 years Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This white mammoth ivory segment is natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or resin-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilisation processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
