This is a natural woolly mammoth tooth (Mammuthus primigenius) in an exceptional condition. The piece is offered in a completely natural state — it is not stabilised, not resin-filled, and no cavities were filled with composites. The tooth has been carefully dried over an extended period making it stable and suitable for permanent display. The enamel lamellae of the chewing surface are sharply defined and the root plates are fully preserved. The natural colour of the mammoth molar is a mix of caramel, brown and beige. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions.
Geological epoch: Pleistocene.
Age: Over 10,000 years.
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
Please note that this tooth is suitable as a rare interior design item and as an addition to a bespoke fossils collection. It is not suitable for cutting and/or carving. The fine fissures visible on the surface are a natural characteristic of an untreated, dried mammoth tooth.
The custom-made stand is included in the sale. The stand is handmade out of steel and it is powder coated into deep black.
