This is a top-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite one small crack on the edge of one cross-cut section. Tapered thickness: One cross-cut section is slightly thicker than the other. Consistent width with reserves on both ends. The piece displays its original, natural ivory tone. The colour of the outer layer of bark is beige.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This white mammoth ivory segment is natural and untreated. It is not stabilised or resin-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilisation processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
