This is a top-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite some tiny, non-penetrating fissures. Tapered width and thickness with reserves on both ends: One cross-cut section is thicker and wider than the other. Two sides are almost flat. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions. The piece displays its original, natural ivory tone.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This white mammoth ivory segment is natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or epoxy-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilization processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
