This is a top-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is naturally dense and solid, despite some small, non-penetrating cracks on the topside. Tapered width and thickness with reserves on both ends: One cross-cut section is wider and thicker than the other. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions. This piece displays its original, natural ivory tone. The colour of the outer layer is a mix of cream, pale honey with faint grey streaks.
Geological Epoch: Pleistocene
Age: Over 10,000 years
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Siberia
This natural mammoth ivory piece is natural and untreated. It is not stabilized or epoxy-filled. All of our pieces are unique in colour, structure, and shape due to fossilization processes and long-term climatic conditions of the Siberian permafrost. No artificial treatments or restorations have been performed unless specifically stated.
