This is a good-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is rock-solid despite the cracks. One cross-cut section is thicker than the other. Consistent width with plenty of reserves on both ends. Please carefully look at the pictures for precise dimensions, because one end of this piece was cut under an angle. The colour of the bark is brown-orange.
Geological epoch: Pleistocene.
Age: Over 10,000 years.
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
This piece is presented in its natural condition - it is not stabilized and /or injected with resin. Please take note that none of our mammoth ivory is artificially stabilized and / or restored unless explicitly stated.
