This is a good-quality piece of Siberian woolly mammoth bark (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is rock-solid despite the cracks. One cross-cut section is thicker than the other. Consistent width with plenty of reserves on both ends. The colour of the bark is a mix of blue, brown and grey.
Geological epoch: Pleistocene.
Age: Over 10,000 years.
Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
