White mammoth ivory segment

This is an immaculate piece of Siberian woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius). The ivory is rock-solid, completely dry and without cracks. There is one small, non-penetrating fissure on the thicker cross-cut section. Consistent width with plenty of reserves on both ends. The colour of the ivory is white. The colour of the outer layer of bark is brown.

Geological epoch: Pleistocene.

Age: Over 10,000 years.

Origin: Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
